Retro Food Lunch at BIG ANT HQ: A Blast from the Past!

At BIG ANT, we’ve always been big fans of blending hard work with a bit of fun. So, when someone floated the idea of a retro-themed food lunch in the office, we were all in faster than you can say “Spam fritter”!

A Culinary Time Machine
Thursday 12th December our Paignton hub transformed into a foodie time capsule. Each of us brought in dishes that took us back to the good old days. Think prawn cocktail starters, cheese and pineapple on sticks, and an impressive selection of vol-au-vents.

Of course, no retro lunch would be complete without desserts that could rival your nan’s baking. We had a glorious trifle with just the right amount of sherry, Arctic roll slices, and a towering jelly mould that wobbled with pride.

The Vibes? Spot On!
We didn’t stop at just the food. Oh no! We cranked up the atmosphere with a playlist of classic hits—from ABBA to Queen, the office was buzzing with laughter and stories of childhood memories sparked by the retro spread.

Why Do We Do It?
It’s more than just lunch—it’s about fostering connections. At BIG ANT, we’re not just a team, we’re a work family. Events like this are a chance to step back from the daily grind, connect with colleagues, and recharge in a way that reminds us why we love what we do.

Plus, who doesn’t enjoy an excuse to indulge in those classic dishes you secretly adore but never admit to eating?

The Verdict?
The Retro Food Lunch was a roaring success, leaving us with full bellies, nostalgic grins, and a firm decision to do it all again. (Next time, we’re thinking retro drinks—anyone for Babycham?)

At BIG ANT, we believe the best way to achieve big things is by having a bit of fun along the way. And if that fun involves a table full of delicious memories, even better.

So, what should we try next? Fondue night? 90s snack tasting? The possibilities—and the snacks—are endless!

Here’s to good food, great colleagues, and even better vibes.
