School Maintenance Caretaker (Industrial)

BIG ANT Group are seeking a dedicated and skilled Caretaker for a small, specialist school in Paignton. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in maintenance and repair, with a focus on ensuring the safety and functionality of the premises for all children and staff.

We are keen to find someone who is proactive and enjoys a blend of manual work and fault-finding. You will need to use your initiative to ensure the School is kept a safe environment if repairs are not able to be carried out instantly. Heavy lifting may be involved as you may be required to make repairs to furniture or fit doors. Regular safety checks across the site are also essential.

You must be competent with the following duties and be confident to raise more serious / expert matters to Senior Members of the Team should external trades be required:
- Use of Hand-Tools
- General DIY skills
- Painting
- Basic Carpentry
- Knowledge of Basic Electrics
- Basic gardening duties
- Replenishing soaps / hand towels etc
- Some cleaning works

It is essential that applicants have recently had an Enhanced DBS Certification and preferable that you have previous experience in a School setting and/or knowledge of SEN and the sensitivity to vulnerable individuals.

Working hours are Monday to Friday and you will start at 07:30 with a total of 37 hours per week.
This opportunity is long term and will start in a Temporary capacity with the view of offering a Permanent role depending on performance.
