Class 2 / HGV Sweeper Driver (SWISCo)

BIG ANT Group are looking for a dedicated and reliable HGV Driver to join the SWISCo team. If you enjoy working outdoors and take pride in keeping your community clean and safe, this is the perfect opportunity for you!

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate the sweeper lorry to clean streets, roads, and public spaces.
• Ensure the vehicle is maintained to a high standard, reporting any defects.
• Follow set routes and schedules to maintain cleanliness across Torbay high-streets and residential areas.
• Work in various weather conditions and ensure high standards of work are maintained.
• Adhere to health and safety regulations and council procedures.
• Provide a positive and professional image of the council at all times.

Ideal Candidate:

• Full UK driving licence with a Category C (HGV) licence.
• Current CPC.
• Previous experience driving a sweeper or similar vehicle (preferred but not essential).
• A good understanding of road safety and traffic laws.
• A self-motivated and reliable team player.
• Ability to work independently with attention to detail.
• Good communication skills and a positive attitude towards public service.

Work Hours:

• 37 hours per week, with shifts as follows:
• • Monday to Thursday: 14:00 to 22:00
  • Friday: 14:00 to 21:30
  • A shift premium is offered across hours worked after 8pm, offering £21.07 p/hr during this time.
    Overtime will also be paid at an enhanced rate of time and a half.

This is an ongoing requirement with the potential for the right candidate to secure a permanent role.

The start date of this role is Monday 17^th March 2025 and applicants must be flexible to accommodate training from 06:00-14:00.
